We operate a full library service, in partnership with Hull City Council, through over 60 Volunteer Library Assistants, with many more volunteers carrying out the huge range of other tasks required to keep the library operating, all managed by a Trustee Board of 11 local residents, library users and volunteers.

Key Update on the Building Works 👷🔨⛑📚![]()

The question, quite rightly on everyone’s lips is when will the remedial work begin?![]()
We are pleased to say that Hull City Council are now in the moderating stages of selecting the successful bidder to undertake the work.![]()

The project should now begin in August with the underpinning work still expected to continue until 18th December 2026. Contractors equipment should begin to appear in August along with the temporary accomodation. This temporary accomodation will ensure the library does NOT have to close. Some services may be scaled back somewhat, but it is our intention that all clubs and activities WILL continue to take place.![]()

You will have noticed that some books have been removed from the shelves in advance of moving out of the library and into our temporary premises, due to limited space. However, in the meantime Library Services have been updating our remaining stock of books, especially in the Children’s Library section so please come and check out the stock we do have.![]()

Once the temporary accomodation arrives we are going to need a lot of help in moving all the equipment that we need to continue running the library. We will also need to move those items we won’t need in the short term into the secure unit. Please keep an eye out for any appeal we make for your assistance - any help you can offer will be gratefully received.![]()
